To add or edit a Windows Tool or Shortcut Step:


  1. Either create a new Step (see Creating a New Step; opens a new article) or select a Step to edit (see Editing a Step; opens a new article). If you are creating a new Step, select Windows Actions (tools & shortcuts) using the Type pull-down menu in the Create Step popup. You may be prompted to allow the Guided Path for Windows application. Click OK to allow this application.

  2. Click the Add Action button.

    The Add Action popup appears.

  1. Perform the following, as applicable:
  • To add one or more existing shortcut(s): In the Shortcuts tab, select one or more shortcut(s) by checking the appropriate checkbox(es) and then click the Add button to add the selected shortcut(s) to the Guided Paths for Windows application.
  • To create a new shortcut: Click the Create New button to open the Edit Shortcut popup. This is identical to the Edit Shortcut popup that appears when you add or edit a shortcut via the Action Library screen. See Edit Shortcut Popup (opens a new article).
  • To add one or more existing tool(s): In the Tools tab, select one or more shortcut(s) by checking the appropriate checkbox(es) and then click the Add button to add the selected tool(s) to the Guided Paths for Windows application.
  • To create a new tool: Click the Create New button to open the Edit Tool popup. This is identical to the Edit Tool popup that appears when you add or edit a tool via the Action Library screen. See Edit Tool Popup (opens a new article).


           The new or edited tool or shortcut appears in the Guided Paths for Windows application.


  1. Perform any or all of the following action(s), as appropriate:
  • Add another tool or shortcut by clicking the Add Action(s) button to open the Add Action popup and then repeat Steps 2-4 as needed to add all of the remaining Action(s) to the Step.
  • Click and drag the Action(s) to place them in the desired order. The consumer will see these Actions in the specified order when they run this Guided Paths for Windows application on their computer during a session.
  • Remove an Action from the Guided Paths for Windows application by clicking the Remove icon (trash can) for that Action.
